Communion Server Duties

Cups (kneeling)

1. Go to Sacristy during hymn of day.

2. Use Purell on hands.

3. Practice tray handoff with Acolyte in the Sacristy.

4. Leave Sacristy when Lon says, “Our Communion is ready and the ushers can bring you forward.”

5. Server with wine says, “Blood of Christ shed for you” as people take wine.

6. Person with empty tray collects the used cups.

7. Trade trays with Acolyte each time you reach end of railing using the following method:
   * Stack used trays to hand to Acolyte.
   * Acolyte hands new trays to server with NO trays.
   * Hand used trays to Acolyte.

8. Try to keep up with Lon without hurrying people at rail

9. When Lon changes direction, follow his lead. To trade trays,  go  behind altar to reach acolyte.

10. After everyone has communed, servers, acolyte, altar guild, and Lon commune.

Intinction

1. Go the Sacristy during the Hymn of the Day.
2. Use Purell on hands.
3. Decide which servers will be with Lon.
4. Servers with Lon will be on the piano side. Other servers will be on the side near the Sacristy. (see diagram)
5. Servers leave Sacristy when Lon says, “Our Communion is ready and the ushers can bring you forward.”
6. Lon will hand chalices and patens (bread plates) to servers.
7. If wafer is dropped in wine, immediately go to the sacristy and remove wafer.
8. Resume Communion when you return.
9. Commune with the altar guild and Lon after the congregation has communed.
